Emergency services, including police, fire crews and paramedics, were called to the scene just before 5pm on Monday.

They were responding to reports that the teenager hadn't resurfaced while in the water.

It took emergency searchers six hours to scour the North Met Lake and find the boy.

Now the young lad from Enfield's family has paid a loving tribute to him.

In a statement, they said: “Lewis was a loving, kind-hearted person loved by everyone who came in contact with him.

"A multitalented person adored by his friends. Your departure has left a big void in our hearts.

"We miss you, but will forever love you.  We would like to thank our loved ones, our neighbours and all his friends for the love and support shown in these difficult times. We are grateful.”

A post-mortem has confirmed drowning as the cause of death and a file is being prepared for the coroner.

The tragedy came just two days after young Kyra Hill, named locally by other parents, was found drowned in a water park lake at Datchet, near Windsor, Berks.
