Cops patrol Liverpool schools after creepy clown Instagram page posted sinister list of targets
POLICE guarded several schools in Liverpool today after 'killer clowns' threatened to terrorise pupils on Monday.
An Instagram account called clowns_schools_liverpool photographs of some of its "targets" on Friday along with a list of ten schools.
Even primary schools were among those to be threatened as the 'creepy clown' phenomenon continues to spread across the UK.
On Sunday police were called to reports of a gang of four men dressed as clowns and carrying fake knives at Whiston Station in the city.
The schools threat led to police being dispatched to patrol Gateacre School in Belle Vale and St Francis Xavier's College in Woolton.

The instagram account claimed pupils would be spooked at between 9:30am and 3pm on Monday.
Police said their deployment was a precautionary measure and no reports of any sightings were made.
A spokesman said: "The officers were there to provide reassurance to the public, which is part of their role.
"The officers are aware of the clowns and the list on social media and this would have formed part of their briefing.
"We would like to emphasise there have been no confirmed incidents in Merseyside relating to clowns at this time.
"Should clowns threaten members of the public, they will be subject to arrest or prosecution."
It comes as the country becomes gripped by an epidemic of clown pranksters frightening the public.
Some have been seen carrying knives, trying to break into cars and chasing terrified children.
The craze began in the US but has quickly spread across the UK in recent weeks.
