Cambridge physicist, 40, and dad, 78, killed in nightmare hit-and-run that’s left her young daughter fighting for life

THIS is the mum who was tragically killed when a car ploughed into her family-of-five in a horror hit-and-run smash.

Cambridge physicist Noga Hirshfeld died alongside her father Yoram Hirshfeld, 78, in Ramsgate, Kent, when a black Alfa Romeo crashed into them outside a multi-storey car park.

Her primary school-age daughter was also rushed to hospital with serious injuries after the collision.

A man in his 40s and young boy also of primary school age suffered minor injuries following the horror at around 9.35pm yesterday.

Officers arrested a 30-year-old man from Ramsgate on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and leaving the scene of a collision.

He is currently in hospital receiving treatment for minor injuries.

One witness today told how the incident will stay with him for the rest of his life.

Marc-Pierre Campos, 56, told : “There was a big loud bang and a crash and then customers and my staff went rushing down and started shouting for someone to call the emergency services.

“I called them and they asked which service do you need and I said we need all three.

“A fire brigade was needed to pull the car off the woman. And it was clear the police need to be involved too.”

Kent Police said: “Kent Police is appealing for information after two people died and a child was left seriously injured following a collision in Ramsgate.

“The incident happened outside the multi-storey car park in Leopold Street at around 9.35pm on Wednesday 10 August 2022.

“Enquiries into the incident are being carried out by officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit who are keen to hear from any witnesses, local businesses with CCTV evidence or drivers with relevant dashcam footage.”
