Police probe ‘unexplained’ death of five-month-old baby boy found unresponsive at home
POLICE are probing the "unexplained" death of a five-month-old baby boy found unresponsive at home.
Emergency crews raced to the house in Preston, Lancs, at around midday on Wednesday.
The baby was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved and died later that day.
Lancashire Constabulary have now launched an investigation into the boy's death.
They say the tragedy is being treated as "unexplained" and enquiries are ongoing.
A statement added: "We were called by the North West Ambulance Service to an address on Garsdale Road, Ribbleton, Preston, at 12.18pm on Wednesday, August 3, following reports that a five-month-old baby boy had been found unresponsive.
"The baby was taken to the Royal Preston Hospital where sadly he died later in the day.
"Our thoughts are with his family at this very difficult time."
