Environment Secretary Andrea Leadsom to fly flag for UK by embarking on global tour to sell British grub
The Tory minister will be representing Blighty at the world’s largest food fair in Paris
NEW trade links will be on the table when Andrea Leadsom embarks on a global tour to sell British grub.
The Environment Secretary will be flying the flag at the world’s largest food fair in Paris next week before travelling to China in November.
The UK has so far sold over £10 billion worth of food and drink overseas so far this year.
Teams in the Great British Food Unit are posted around the world and have helped UK firms win nearly 300 export deals in the last six months — worth more than £200 million.
Ministers in her department are also expected to sell the virtues of British food and drink abroad in the coming months.

Former Tory leadership candidate Leadsom said: “Leaving the EU provides us with a superb opportunity to establish new trading relationships right across the globe and sell even more of our top quality food and drink.
“I want the world to know we’re open for business which is why I’ll be flying the flag for British food and drink at the world’s largest food trade fair in Paris next week and banging the drum for our great food in China in November.”
During her speech at the Tory party conference she said Britain is already selling coffee to Brazil, wine to France and naan bread to India.
