A source claims the threat of a gas attack on troops is 'high'

HUNDREDS of British troops heading to Iraq are being given chemical warfare clothing in case of an attack by ISIS.

The 250 soldiers from 4 Rifles battalion are on a new training mission.

They are heading to one of the most dangerous areas in the country, the Al Asad air base in Balad, to coach Iraq’s 7th Infantry Division.

Last month US soldiers at Qayyarah air base, 60 miles north of the UK force, mounted a chemical alert after IS fighters fired mustard gas at them.

Our soldiers are carrying gas masks and special clothing amid fears that the attackers will use chemicals again.

A source said: “The threat of a gas attack is high.”
