Teen killed in hit and run horror was seen being forced into a car minutes earlier
West Midlands police said a 19-year-old male was hit by a car in the Erdington area of Birmingham on Friday
A TEENAGER has died after being struck by a car - just minutes after being bundled into a car during a nearby incident.
West Midlands police said a 19-year-old male was hit by a car in the Erdington area of Birmingham on Friday, just before 8:55pm.
The suspicious hit-and-run took place in Hunton Road - shortly after the earlier disturbance nearby in The Gardens, during which a 22-year-old, who potentially knows the victim, also suffered minor injuries after being assaulted.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics - and detectives believe he was the person forced into the car a few streets away.
Detective Inspector Warren Hines said: ""The details are sketchy.
"The incident appears to involve a group of males on one side and two other males on the other.
"The best thing a witness says is that one of the men was bundled off into a car.
"The description matches that of the 19-year-old male. We believe we are talking about the same male who was taken off.
"A potential abduction is certainly one of the lines of inquiry.
"At the moment we know very little about the personal circumstances of the 19-year-old.
"But for anyone of that age to lose their life in these circumstances is tragic."
He added: "At this stage we are treating the man's death as suspicious.
"I believe there were two vehicles involved in this incident; a blue Mercedes and a silver VW Passat, and I would ask that anyone who saw these cars in the area around The Gardens and Hunton Road to contact me as a matter of urgency.
"We believe the blue car was rented by the man who lost his life."
