I paid £100 for my family to visit Nickelodeon Experience but it’s a rip off with nothing to do & prices are ridiculous

A MUM has blasted the Nickelodeon Experience family day out as a "rip off" after paying £100 for "nothing to do".

The 14-day pop-up event is touring the country, offering three-hour sessions for kids to see their favourite TV characters.

It opened in Manchester on Saturday, with tots able to see SpongeBob SquarePants, Paw Patrol and Henry Danger, among others.

But parents were quick to brand the experience a "rip off", with one mum claiming there was "nothing to do".

Rachel Halewood wrote on the Nickelodeon Experience Facebook page: "Awful, as a family of four we paid £100 and there was literally nothing to do!"

The mum told how she had to wait half an hour in line for her son to see his favourite characters.

She also blasted the cost of the event's one food stall after she was forced to pay £17 for two slushes.

"My six year old was bored, nothing for her to do. God knows what a 7 to 14 year old does. So disappointed and so are my kids! Feel robbed," Rachel added.

A Nickelodeon Experience spokeswoman said ticket costs "reflect value for money" and the price for drinks starts at £2.50.

However, they will be reviewing adult ticket prices because they "recognise the pressures on families caused by the rising cost of living".

Meanwhile another visitor, Samantha Chater, blasted the event as a "con".

She told : "It was such a con with extortionate food prices too.

"I feel very strongly about warning others about how much of a rip-off this event is and the poor quality and lack of what’s there. It's the worst event we have ever been to."

Other mums claimed there were two-hour queues for indoor events and kids had to wait an hour and a half to have a picture taken with the Paw Patrol characters

The Nickelodeon Experience - which is on in Manchester until August 3 - has been created by Luna Cinema in association with Paramount Global.

A Nickelodeon Experience statement read: "The Nickelodeon Experience had a fantastic opening weekend at Manchester’s Heaton Park, with an overwhelmingly positive response from fans in attendance.

"The event is the only one of its kind in the UK, offering visitors of all ages the opportunity to explore a site full of adventure and interactive experiences.

“Each zone in the Nickelodeon Experience brings to life a popular TV show from the channel for fans to enjoy at their leisure."

The statement added: “While we believe ticket prices reflect value for money and the investment required to bring this unique touring experience to life, we do recognise the pressures on families caused by the rising cost of living.

"As such, we will be reviewing adult ticket prices.

“We also work with our food and drink partners to provide visitors with a range of price points for refreshments, starting at £2.50 for beverages.
