We came in to find an otter asleep in our BED – it smashed our candles and ate the cat’s dinner
AN otter sneaked into a home and ran amok before eating a cat’s dinner and dozing on the owners’ bed.
The creature managed to get in by squeezing through the bars of a pet gate designed to stop moggy Millie escaping.
It then scattered cushions and managed to smash a candle set before polishing off the cat’s grub.
Peter Goldie, 70, and wife Linda, 73, of Shildon, Co Durham, found it curled up on their holiday home bed in Skinburness, Cumbria.
Retired town clerk Linda said: “I’d heard the pet gate rattle when we sat in the garden which must’ve been the otter.
“When Peter went to check on Millie, he found the house in a right mess.
“He walked in the bedroom and saw the otter asleep.
“It was a real shock to both of us.

“I was terrified it would fly out at 100mph when it woke but it just got off the bed and went under the dressing table.
“Then it sauntered down the hall like it owned the place — it was hilarious.”
