Full list of school closures as Brits told to stay at home in sizzling heatwave
A NUMBER of schools will stay shut today as Brits are urged to stay at home during the sizzling heatwave.
The nation was warned to stay out of the sun for as long as the Met Office's red “danger to life” weather alert is in place.
The warning, which covers a large portion of England between London, Manchester and the Vale of York, came into force on Monday and is set to remain until the end of today.
Millions of Brits are working from home to stay cool - and to avoid mass travel disruption caused by the scorcher, which is set to end tomorrow.
Meanwhile, some headteachers announced pupils should stay at home — a move opposed by deputy PM Dominic Raab.
The Department of Education (DfE) has not advised schools to shut, but have told leaders they are “responsible for managing their own local circumstances”.

It means several schools across England said they would close completely while others will close early or change uniform rules for "the safety of pupils".
And schools that remain open are asking students to drink water and wear hats and sunscreen.
Classrooms follow the same rules as workplaces, meaning there is a no maximum temperature mandating a full shut-down.

Buckinghamshire
More than 50 schools have shut completely across Bucks. on Monday and Tuesday due to the weather.
Some schools, such as Bierton Church of England Combined School, have told parents they can choose whether their kids work from home or attend class in the morning before learning from home in the afternoon.

West Berkshire
Just four schools in West Berks. announced they would be shutting on Monday and Tuesday.
The Willows Primary School will reopen today, while the Calcot Infant School and Nursery will stay closed.

Cambridgeshire
A total of ten schools will be shut in Cambs., today with a number of others offering an early finish.
Brampton Primary School will stop lessons at 1.30pm but says after school clubs are still running.
Meanwhile, the Grove Primary School will be open from 10am - 1pm.

Hampshire
Four schools in Hampshire will stay shut today.
Endeavour Primary School and Swanmore College are both offering remote learning for pupils while Rowhill School promises to reopen as normal on Wednesday.

London
Parents in London are advised to check individual schools for updates.
Kemnal Technology College in Bromley wrote to parents last week to say that under guidance from its trust and the Department for Education, “we have taken the unprecedented decision to close the school and ask students and staff to work remotely”.
Nottinghamshire
At least eight schools are closed in Notts., following an announcement by the Archway Learning Trust.
A spokesperson for the trust said: “Due to the extreme weather warning, we have made the decision to close all of our academies on Monday and Tuesday July for the welfare of our students and staff.”
Parents are advised to check their relevant school or trust for details.
Oxfordshire
More than 30 schools have closed across Oxfordshire, where temperatures are set to rise to 37C today.
Some said they plan to remain closed until Wednesday, although some say they will wait to review the situation before deciding to close on Tuesday.
Lord Williams's School will just be shut today due to the "severe weather" while Mabel Prichard School will be shut on both days.

Surrey
At least four schools have announced closures on Monday and Tuesday in Surrey due to surging temperatures.
The Howard Partnership Trust, which runs Kenyngton Manor Primary School, asked kids to stay at home on Monday and Tuesday.
The school will remain open for a limited number of pupils, should parents need to sort alternative arrangements.
Meanwhile, Altwood Church of England School in Maidenhead said it would close for the “extreme heat”.
Sussex
At least eight schools have announced closures in West Sussex, where temperatures are expected to reach the mid-30s.
Bohunt School Worthing will be closed on Monday, while The Weald School, in Billingshurst, is open but ends at 1.30pm on both days.
Worcestershire
A total of 15 schools have announced full closures today, with another 11 siting partial closures with early finishes.
It comes as the county braces itself for 38C heat later on Tuesday.
Astwood Bank Primary School will be closed for the whole day "due to extreme weather conditions and to protect the health and safety of our staff and children".
Meanwhile, Ashton-under-Hill First School will shut at 12.30pm today.

Yorkshire
At least five schools have closed in Yorks. in response to the weather.
North Yorkshire County Council said that Bedale High School will be closed on Monday and Tuesday due to heat levels.
Grenoside Community Primary School in Sheffield said it would close due to the "red weather warning for extreme heat and the school site being unsafe".
