A MURDER investigation has been launched after a young man was shot dead on his doorstep in east London.
Cops were called at around 8.40pm last night to Bethnal Green following reports of a shooting at a block of flats.
Firearms and local officers attended the scene and found a man, believed aged 20, suffering gunshot injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.
It is believed he was shot as he answered the door, police said.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.
Cops believe they know who the victim was but await formal identification.
A post-mortem will take place on Thursday at Poplar Mortuary and next of kin have been informed.
Two men aged 29 and 21 have been arrested and are currently in custody in an east London police station.
Any witnesses or anyone with any information is asked to contact police via 101.

He was set upon by at least 15 men as he left York Hall and was stabbed in the chest before being left to die on a petrol station forecourt.
Last month, a 26-year-old man was stabbed during a "fierce" argument on a housing estate in Bethnal Green.
He was taken to an east London hospital by ambulance where he died eleven hours later after being knifed multiple times.
