Government will not wait until Brexit to cut level of migrants entering the UK, Home Secretary to announce
Amber Rudd is due to unveil restrictions on the number of people coming to the UK from outside the EU
BRITAIN will not wait until Brexit to cut the level of migrants entering the UK, the Home Secretary is expected to say today.
Amber Rudd is due to unveil restrictions on the number of people coming to the UK from outside the EU at the Tory Party conference in Birmingham.
She will announce plans to limit the number of non-EU migrants in an attempt to reduce the level of net migration in the run up to Brexit.
And ministers have already been examining plans to restrict student visas so only the best and brightest can come to study at top universities.
It comes after Theresa May said that Britain would trigger Article 50 and begin the formal process of leaving the EU in March next year, meaning full Brexit will not take place until 2019.
