Moriah Wilson told a friend she planned to go swimming with her lover Strickland, according to reports.

Prior to competing in a race in the region, the celebrity of gravel racing was lodging in an apartment in Austin.

Prior to visiting Wilson, Strickland allegedly told his current girlfriend a number of falsehoods.

According to police, Strickland informed Armstrong that although his phone's battery had expired and he would be unable to reach her, he was heading out to bring flowers.

However, according to authorities, he was really swimming with Moriah in the Deep Eddy Pool, which is what they suspect inspired Armstrong to exact murderous retribution.

US Marshals' tweet

In a tweet with images of Kaitlin at the airport, US Marshals shared a description of what she was wearing at the time.

They wrote: "Armstrong was last seen on surveillance video wearing a blue denim jacket, black shirt with a pink design on the chest, white jeans, black and white tennis shoes, a black COVID mask, and a possible yoga mat carrier on her shoulders."

Kaitlin was last seen in La Guardia before arrest

Kaitlin Armstrong is seen leaving a Texas airport in footage after reportedly killing a cyclist in a jealous fury.

When the video was made public, authorities said they thought she had killed cyclist Moriah Wilson, 25, and fled from Texas to New York City.

However, US Marshals reported on June 30 that Armstrong had been taken into custody at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in the Costa Rican province of Puntarenas.

Her arrest follows US Marshals pictures of Armstrong on May 25, two weeks after Wilson was discovered dead on an Austin, Texas, restroom floor.

Moriah's family's statement

According to Moriah's relatives, she was not involved in a romantic relationship when she passed away.

The accusations concerning the supposed romantic relationship were explained by the family to .

“While we will not elaborate about the ongoing investigation, we do feel it's important to clarify that at the time of her death, those closest to her clearly understood, directly from Moriah, that she was not in a romantic relationship with anyone,” said the family in a written statement.

“We are absolutely devastated by the loss of our beautiful daughter and sister, Anna Moriah Wilson. There are no words that can express the pain and suffering we are experiencing due to this senseless, tragic loss. 

“Moriah was a talented, kind, and caring young woman. Her life was taken from her before she had the opportunity to achieve everything she dreamed of. Our family, and all those who loved her, will forever miss her.”

Kaitlin Armstrong compared to Brian Laundrie

Private investigator Jason Jensen has compared the case to the hunt for , who went on the run after murdering his girlfriend  during a 2021 cross-country road trip before being found dead several weeks later.

He told The US Sun:

“They’ve basically created this Brian Laundrie scenario for themselves; they could’ve put a couple of officers on her to watch her closely but they haven’t and now they got to invest all these resources, manpower, and other assets trying to track her down all the way across the country – just like they did with Laundrie.”

Kaitlin was brought in earlier for questioning

Kaitlin Armstrong was brought in for questioning by police on May 12, 2022, but was released on a technicality.

She was last seen on May 14 leaving LaGuardia Airport in  – three days before a warrant was issued for her arrest.

However, there were no outbound flights made with reservations under her name, according to the US Marshals Lone Star Fugitive Task Force.

“The first time I got on a bike, there was no tarmac in sight – it was two miles on gravel to the highway,” he told .

He began riding professionally in 2011 and is a member of the Red Bull athletic community.

How long was Kaitlin on the run?

Kaitlin evaded authorities for 43 days.

She was finally arrested on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica on June 29.

What happened to Moriah, explained

Moriah Wilson passed away last week at an apartment in Austin on May 11.

Her friend returned home to find the pro-athlete shot dead in a pool of blood.

Investigators concluded Wilson had been struck several times with a 9mm round and suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

It is suspected that the athlete was killed by Kaitlin Armstrong.

Who was Moriah Wilson?

Moriah Wilson, 25, was a competitive gravel and mountain cyclist.

She grew up in Vermont and was in Austin, Texas preparing for the Gravel Locos race in Hico. 

According to , Wilson had races planned all summer, including one in East Africa. 

The cycling community called her a “super-talented athlete” and a cycling “ambassador.”

The Wilson family organized a  in honor of Moriah to help raise money for “community organizations that help youth find self-confidence, strength, and joy through biking, skiing, and other activities that Moriah was passionate about.”

The fundraiser has already raised over $138,900.

Colin’s statement, continued

He continued: “She returned to her home in California and about a month later, Kaitlin Armstrong and I reconciled and resumed our relationship.”

Colin added that he often saw Moriah at cycling events and maintained a “platonic and professional” relationship.

“Moriah and I were both leaders in this lonely, niche sport of Cycling, and I admired her greatly and considered her a close friend.”

Colin’s statement about the crime

Colin spoke of “the regret and torture” he felt “about [his] proximity to this horrible crime,” in a  released to local media.

“I am sorry, and I simply cannot make sense of this unfathomable tragedy,” he continued.

“As a point of clarification to facts previously reported, Moriah Wilson and I had a brief romantic relationship from late October-early November 2021 that spanned a week or so while Wilson was visiting Austin.

“At the time, she and I had both recently ended relationships.”

Colin Strickland's police statements

Colin and the other rider had arranged to go swimming together on the supposed murderous night of Moriah.

At about 8.30pm local time, he claimed to have dropped Moriah off at the flat.

Only a few hours later, at approximately 10 o'clock, Moriah was pronounced dead.

Police have not filed any charges, and Colin denies any role in her death.

According to reports, he was unaware of Kaitlin Armstrong's location.

Evidence points to Kailtin

According to the authorities, surveillance video allegedly captures Kaitlin's SUV passing the apartment Moriah was residing in at the time of her death.

Officials assert Detectives informed Kaitlin that the uncovered camera footage did not show her in a favorable light, and she nodded in agreement.

When Moriah was allegedly murdered, police said Kaitlin was unable to explain why her automobile was in the vicinity.

Information about the suspected murder

Moriah had flown into Texas just before her corpse was discovered to take part in the Gravel Locos, a 150-mile cycle event.

She and Colin decided to get together and hang out while in town.

Police suspect Kaitlin may have found the two using the location-enabled Strava riding app.

Kaitlin is said to have followed Moriah to the apartment she was sleeping in and may have shot a 9mm pistol, the same weapon Colin told authorities they keep at home, according to the police.

Kaitlin's alleged motivation

Authorities think Kaitlin's actions were motivated by jealous rage after she allegedly learned that Colin and Moriah had a brief fling after ending their relationship.

Moriah and Colin frequently competed in bike competitions together, and they had plans to get together the weekend before she was slain.

According to Austin authorities, Kaitlin Armstrong's social media accounts, including the one for Wheelhouse, were all deleted after cyclist Moriah Wilson's death.

Kaitlin Armstrong is a 34-year-old Yoga teacher based in Texas.

She and her long-term partner, Colin Strickland, previously worked together to design and build vintage trailers at their company, Wheelhouse Mobile.

Arrest of Kaitlin Armstrong

According to US Marshals, Kaitlin Armstrong, 34, was detained at a hostel on Santa Teresa Beach in Provincia de Puntarenas, Costa Rica, on Wednesday evening.

The fugitive, according to authorities, boarded a plane at 5.09pm on May 18 from Newark International Airport in New Jersey and touched down in San Jose, Costa Rica, at 8.27pm.

Armstrong's 'intent to run'

Armstrong sold her Jeep for $2,000 to $3,000 less than what it was worth, according to documents given to The US Sun by .

The similar models of Jeep in Armstrong's condition generally go for $14,500 to $15,320, per CarFax statistics.

Jensen thinks that Armstrong's seeming low price and hurried selling of her automobile reveal her "intent to run."

Kaitlin's reported escape plan

Kaitlin Armstrong sold her automobile below market value before fleeing after reportedly shooting dead her bicycle love rival in a jealous rage, according to records.

On May 17, a warrant was issued for Armstrong's arrest, and according to the police, she should be regarded as dangerous and armed.

The US Marshals have established that Armstrong sold her vehicle, a black 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee, to a CarMax store in south Austin four days prior to her escape from Texas to New York.

Before Wilson was fatally murdered on May 11, a car with the same description was observed driving up outside her residence.

Murder weapon

Since no bullets were heard at the scene of the murder of dead love triangle victim Moriah Wilson, neighbors think that killer, Kaitlin Armstrong, used a silencer.

Wilson, 25, was killed at the East Austin apartment that David Harris, 47, owns and resides in next door.

She had been staying with a friend while in town for the race, and Strickland had driven his motorcycle to drop her off there.

Harris was home at the time of the murder and believed the only way he would not have heard the Sig-Sauer 9mm reportedly used as a murder weapon go off is if it was fired with a suppressor.
