‘Brit’ boy, 4, found face-down in swimming pool in Algarve as he fights for life in hospital
A BRITISH boy is fighting for his life in hospital after he was found face-down in a swimming pool in the Algarve.
The four-year-old was on holiday in the popular tourist resort of Praia da Luz, Portugal when he was found unconscious in a pool.
Paramedics raced to the scene and found him in a “serious condition”.
A source said the boy’s dad jumped into the water to rescue him after being under for two or three minutes.
The youngster, who is believed to be British, was taken to Portimao Hospital after the incident yesterday.
The pool where the boy was found was reportedly at a privately-owned house.

His current condition is not known at this time.
A spokesman for a regional emergency services coordination centre said the alarm was raised just after 3pm local time on Tuesday.
He said: “The fire service, a medical team and psychologists were sent to the property.
“By the time they got there the child was already out of the water and conscious.”
Firefighters said three children were playing in the water at the time.
The parents realised one of the kids was missing and discovered the young boy floating in the water after racing to the pool.
A source said: “The boy’s father jumped into the water and rescued him.
“When emergency responders arrived the child was in his father’s arms with gasping breathing.”
Another source added: “By the symptoms and the family descriptions, the boy is thought to have been in difficulties in the pool for two to three minutes.
“He was taken to Portimao Hospital’s paediatric A&E unit on a mechanical ventilator, but was already breathing himself when he got to hospital.”
