Teen mum, 16, ‘pleaded with Facebook friends for help after killing newborn daughter by throwing her out the window moments after giving birth’
Antonia Lopez is being charged as an adult
A 16-YEAR-old girl who allegedly killed her prematurely born baby by throwing it out of a second-floor window begged her friends for "a huge favour" on Facebook afterwards.
Antonia Lopez, of Omaha, Nebraska, is being charged as an adult over the death of her newborn daughter.
A Facebook profile in her name shows a status posted at 3:40am on Friday - half an hour before paramedics rushed to her house.
It reads: "Who can do me a huge favor and has a car?" The sentence also had three 'crying' emojis.
John Barcelona, the teen's grandfather, told : "It's caught me by surprise. I just can't believe it. "Stunned."
He saw her a few days before the incident and had no idea she was even pregnant.
"She looked like she was well underweight more than anything else, I would’ve never dreamed that she was pregnant" he added.
"In my head, I just can’t believe it, I can’t believe it."
A Facebook post from January shows the girl with what appears to be an infant simulator doll, used in American schools to teach students about the responsibilities of parenting. In the caption she wrote: "This thing so annoying."
A girl said on Facebook: "Something had to have been going on for her to freak out and do this because I'm telling you, she is nothing like this. I talked to her everyday, like seriously.
"And she might've said that baby doll project was annoying but that doesn't mean she thinks all babies are annoying, so many people in my class said that when they had that project."
Police say the teen mum gave birth alone in her room after unexpectedly going into labour while she was asleep.
After the baby was born, the panicked girl allegedly threw the tiny infant out of her window before telling her own mum what she had done.
Her mother then went outside and saw the baby in the grass and began performing CPR, reported.
Police and emergency services were called to the apartment complex in Omaha after receiving several calls about the infant being thrown from the window, .
The baby was rushed to hospital in an ambulance but was pronounced dead on the way.
The 16-year-old was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
