He is also charged with raping a seventh woman, blackmailing her and disclosing a private sexual picture of the complainant.

wept yesterday as he appeared at Carlisle magistrates’ court under his real name, Ross Davidson, accused of 17 offences between 2013 and 2018.

He was arrested at his parents’ home in Aberdeen on Thursday after the CPS authorised police to charge him earlier this week.

Wild wore a plain black T-shirt with his black hair slicked to one side as he appeared in the dock with two security officers.

He wept as his solicitor Chris Toms told the court: “He is a professional musical performer.”

No formal plea was entered but Mr Toms said of the rape charge: “That is firmly denied. He wants his day in court.”

Wild was remanded in custody to appear at London’s Wood Green crown court on July 22.

The Met’s Specialist Crime command began investigating Wild in 2019 and seized a mobile phone that allegedly featured harrowing images of women being molested as they slept.

It is understood that several of the women have yet to be identified by police.

Four of the alleged sex assaults are said to have taken place at Wild’s home in Finchley, North London, between October 2013 and December 2017.

Another allegedly occurred at a hotel in Shrewsbury in June 2017.

The last incident is alleged to have occurred in Cannes in May 2018, while Wild was attending the film festival and the same month he joined 1980s chart-toppers Spandau Ballet.

Wild is charged with six counts of sexual assault and six of voyeurism in relation to those alleged offences.

He is further accused of rape between August 1 and October 1 in 2013 and blackmailing the same complainant in November 2017 and causing criminal damage to her property.

Wild is charged with disclosing a private sexual photograph of the same woman with intent to cause her distress in October 2017.

He faces a final charge of possessing an extreme pornographic image featuring a non-consensual sex act.

Wild replaced Tony Hadley as Spandau Ballet’s lead singer in 2018 after playing Elvis Presley in the hit West End musical Million Dollar Quartet, alongside the band’s bassist Martin Kemp.

But he was sacked by the band live on ITV’s This Morning two years later.

He later said the humiliation drove him to try and kill himself while he was in Cannes.
