Furious sister of Rangers bus crash victim slams online trolls who mocked his death after coach overturned on the way to a match

Ryan Baird, 39, died and 18 were injured when the coach on its way to Ibrox crashed at a roundabout in Crossroads, Ayrshire

THE furious sister of Rangers bus crash victim Ryan Baird has blasted trolls who mocked the 39-year-old’s death.

Ryan, of Sanquahar, Dumfries-shire, was killed and a further 18 were injured when the Nith Valley supporters club coach heading for Ibrox crashed at a roundabout in Crossroads, Ayrshire.

Grieving Donna McKee hit the roof after an account using the name Jamie Monty tweeted: “Hope everybody on that Rangers bus dies.”

Donna, from Larne, Northern Ireland, slammed the online message and tweeted: “Sick little boy.

“You wouldn’t be saying that if it were your family on that bus.”

Other trolls came to the defence of the vile post. @Paulclarkson67 said: “He’s having a laugh, calm down.”

But Donna responded: “I don’t see the funny side.

“I lost a brother. His sons lost a father. My mum and dad lost a son.”

The account - @jamiemonty_ - was later deleted after it received scores of angry messages.

One wrote “You are the lowest of the low” while another added “what a vile human you are”.

It comes as Ryan’s heartbroken fiancee Sarah Hughes posted a moving poem and tribute to him online.

Devastated Sarah – who got engaged to 39-year-old Ryan last summer – shared her struggle to come to terms with his tragic death.

The bride-to-be said: “I miss him so much already.”

Passengers reported hearing the driver shout “Oh no, the brakes...” seconds before the crash amid fears the vehicle’s brakes failed.

Fellow Gers supporters, friends and relatives took to social media to pay tribute to Ryan, originally from Larne. Among those also paying tribute was Ibrox legend Richard Gough.

His son, Kyle Baird, shared a touching picture on Facebook of himself with his dad at a Rangers match.

Ryan’s cousin Louise Evanne Baird described the 39-year-old as “amazing” and added that he would be “sadly missed”.

She wrote: “I am trying to think of all our happy memories that we shared and how you were always there for me no matter what.”

And Sarah’s aunt Nancy Mackie, 63, said: “It’s really sad. I don’t know how she’ll get over this.”

Jennifer Ferguson posted: “Completely devastated to hear the news about Ryan Baird. One of life’s legends.

“Can’t get over it. RIP my friend. Many good memories that won’t be erased. Sleep tight.”

Last night, two men - aged 19 and 61 - and a 64-year-old woman remained in hospital.

Medical staff described their condition as “serious but not life threatening”.

A 67-year-old man was released from hospital yesterday.

Meanwhile, cops stepped up their investigation into the cause of the crash and urged any motorists who were in the area at the time to come forward.

The coach was removed from the scene late on Saturday night as cops carried out further investigations.

It is understood the coach had left Thornhill at 11.50am before picking up fans in Sanquhar and Kirkconnel on its way to Ibrox for Rangers’ 2-0 Premiership win against Partick Thistle.

Horrified eyewitnesses told how dazed Rangers fans wept as they waited for emergency crews at the side of the vehicle.

Floral tributes and Rangers scarves were yesterday left at the scene of the tragedy by mourners.

Inspector Darren Faulds, who is leading the probe, said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the cause of the crash and anyone with any information is asked to call road policing officers at Irvine Police Office on 101.”

Pals have also set up a fundraising page for tragic Ryan’s family.

Craig Lennox invited Rangers fans and Ryan’s friends to help him raise money through a Just Giving page.
