Angler, 50, found dead in fishing pond as man, 33, arrested for ‘murder’

A MURDER investigation has been launched after emergency services pulled a man out of a fishing pond.
Cops held a 33-year-old man on suspicion of the murder of a 50-year-old victim, who whose body was found last night.
Emergency services - including the air ambulance - were called to Herries Road pond at around 9.21pm last night after reports of concerns for a man at the pond in Sheffield, South Yorks.
It is believed the victim was a local angler, with one Facebook user commenting: "It is an absolute shock that a poor man was murdered, just enjoying his fishing.
"My thoughts are with his family and friends."
The man was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
South Yorkshire Police force has not released any further details and has asked anyone with information to get in touch.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place today.
