Cops were warned raped Oxford teen was missing within 15 minutes of her disappearance

Police were told girl had not turned up to class but failed to find her for three hours

COPS were warned an abducted girl was missing within 15 minutes — but failed to find her for three hours during which time she was raped.

The pupil was taken by two men who bundled her into a silver car.

Police were told she had not turned up for class at 8.45am, minutes after the 8.30am kidnap.

But there was no public appeal for help and despite launching an immediate inquiry they did not trace her in time.

The schoolgirl stumbled into a quiet residential cul-de-sac less than two miles away, in Marston, Oxford, at midday following a horrific ordeal.

The teenager — who is being counselled by specialist officers — banged on doors to raise the alarm and was later seen being treated by ambulance crew.

But there was no public appeal for help and despite launching an immediate inquiry they did not trace her in time.

Detectives have been hunting for CCTV showing the incident or the car — thought to be a VW.

Police are still urgently appealing for anyone with a dash cam or helmet cam who was in the area at the time to come forward.

Det Supt Chris Ward, head of Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said: “I would like to thank the public for their assistance in connection with this extremely worrying incident.

“Our Police Enquiry Centre has received a substantial number of calls in the last 24 hours and we are currently working through the information and following up any significant lines of enquiry.

“Specially trained officers continue to offer this very vulnerable victim support, and we are slowly and sensitively trying to piece together more information from the victim to aid the investigation.

“At this time we are not linking this incident with others, but we are keeping an open mind.”

The major junction where police said she was snatched would have been busy with both cars and pedestrians at the time and is covered in double yellow lines, with no legal parking spaces.
