Rich dad who hired hitmen to murder daughter’s ex-boyfriend is caged
Despite leaving Jonathan Catchpole for dead after blasting him in the chest with shotgun the vitctim luckily survived
A BUSINESSMAN who hired hitmen to murder his daughter’s former boyfriend was jailed for 26 years yesterday.
Wealthy Colin Deferia, 60, agreed to pay at least £12,500 to have Jonathan Catchpole, 38, shot dead.
Jonathan was blasted in the chest with a shotgun when three men burst into his flat in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.
He was left for dead but was saved by surgery.
Ex-building supplies firm boss Deferia, of the nearby village of Barking, had a grudge against the victim and was convicted of conspiracy to murder at Ipswich crown court.
The attack happen on 4 August last year.
Catchpole met Deferia's daughter, Rebecca while she was studying at university.
He told the trial that Deferia had "struggled to let her go.
"They were always a big part of her life."

Cops were able to identify Deferia as a suspect by analysing his mobile phone. Details from the gadget helped officers establish a connection with other suspects who Deferia had paid to carry out the attack.
Hitmen Simon Webber, 32, Frank Warren, 52, and Andrew Seaton, 40, each got 23 years.
Go-between Paul Baker, 35, got 17 years.
