Danielle's parents Linda and Tony last year urged Campbell to reveal where he hid the body.
Linda said she hoped Campbell would “do the right thing and allow us to lay our darling daughter to rest”.
Essex Police said: “Danielle’s never left the thoughts of all of us.”
They never saw her again after she left to catch a bus to school in June 2001 in Tilbury, Essex.
Last year Sharkey revealed the moment he knew his brother had abducted and murdered the schoolgirl, saying: "He couldn't look me in the eye."
The Parole Board confirmed Campbell’s review was “following standard processes” and added: “Public safety is our number one priority.”
Campbell married into the Jones family and had groomed Danielle for months.
