Man arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of a woman was found in a home

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman's body was found in a home.

The 41-year-old man was held this morning in police custody after the woman, who was in her 60s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police stood guard outside the house in a residential close as forensic teams and detectives continued to investigate the exact cause of the tragic death.

Senior Investigating officer, Detective Chief Inspector Mark Glover said: "I would like to reassure the local community that this is an isolated incident and that we are conducting a meticulous investigation to establish the cause of death."

A spokesman said Thames Valley Police was treating the incident in Stoney Grove, Chesham, Bucks., as an "unexplained" death.

The murder probe was launched after cops were called to the address in Stoney Grove at 11.27am on Thursday.

A spokesman said: "Inside the address police officers discovered the body of a woman in her sixties.

"Although the woman is yet to be formally identified at this time her next of kin has been informed of her death."

A post mortem examination is due to take place today.

A 41-year-old man from Chesham was detained on suspicion of murder and held in custody for questioning by police.

Detective Chief Inspector Glover added: "Our thoughts are with the family of the woman at this extremely difficult time.

"Local residents might see an increased police presence in the area while we conduct our enquiries and there will also be a scene watch at the address while the investigation there continues."
