Escaped convict walks 125 miles through forest to surprise daughter on her birthday

A PRISONER escaped from jail and walked 125 mile through a Siberian forest to surprise his eight-year-old daughter on her birthday.
Vasily Bech, 37, has been recaptured and will have four years added to his sentence at penal colony number three in the Tomsk Oblast region of central Russia.
The inmate, who was jailed for six years for drug trafficking in 2014, escaped during a work shift in the prison's vegetable store.
Police caught Bech five days later in the village of Molchanovo, where his young daughter Anna lives with her mother Nadezhda Uimanova, 30, and her partner.

The village of Molchanovo lies in Tomsk Oblast on the Ob River, the seventh longest river in the world.
Bech evaded armed guards and search parties as he covered the full distance on foot through Siberian forests.
He could face a fine to cover the cost of the manhunt for him if legal action by the prison service is successful.
Prison officials have also launched an investigation into the escape and are still trying to identify his accomplices.
