THIS is the terrifying moment a 16-year-old schoolgirl was dragged off the street in broad daylight in a suspected bridal kidnapping.

The incident happened in south-western Russian in the city of Orenburg, on the Kazakhstani border, where the video of the incident was captured on a CCTV camera.

So-called bride kidnapping is rife in the area - which involves young women being kidnapped by admirers in order to force them into marriage.

The video shows the schoolgirl walking in a car park, before a man approaches her the girl from behind, grabbing her and trying to drag her into his car.

Initially, the teenage girl puts up a strong fight - but the girl has no chance when a second person, a heavyset woman, walks over looking as if she is about to intervene, but then helps the man to bundle the girl into the car, where she continues to struggle.

Local police confirmed the kidnapping, and said that a third person had been in the car when the attack was carried out.

They said that one of the trio is aged 24, a second man is aged 40, and the woman is aged 31.

Police discovered they had taken her to an apartment, where they wanted to force her to marry the younger man who claimed he had fallen in love with her.

Police also said the video had allowed them to track down the kidnappers, and that all three have been arrested and the girl was reunited with her family.

The trio have been charged with the kidnapping of a minor.
