In the footage, a bloke dressed in a black shirt and beige shorts is seen standing behind a woman in a floral-patterned dress.

The woman, pressed up against a big, green plastic recycling bin, had her back arched as the man's hand moved back and forth under her skirt.

Passing drivers and party-goers in the street were heard cheering "quick, come" and "come, baby, come" as cops arrived to break up the brazen public sex act.

Police interrupted the pair and an officer was filmed hitting them in the back with a truncheon before others surrounded them.

The clip ends before it's known whether the pair were arrested.

Viewers were left in hysterics over the shameless couple.

One said: "Who said romance was dead?"

Another wrote: "Caught out big time."

A third said: "I’d rather go to jail than Benidorm."

New rules have been introduced in parts of Spain in recent years to tackle what the authorities called "the tourism of excesses," cracking down on public nudity, drinking, sex acts and anti-social behaviour.

In 2018, the island of Majorca introduced a new list of regulations to encourage tourists to "act responsibly" - or face heavy fines.

The party town of Magaluf also introduced similar rules.

Anyone caught wandering around topless could be made to pay up to €3,000 - and people found having sex in the street or performing sex acts in public will be fined too.

Jumping from hotel balconies into swimming pools and the sale of laughing gas are also banned.

Public nudity is already banned in most parts of the country.
