Philadelphia mass shooting live updates – South Street suspect arrested & warrant for 2nd ‘gunman’ issued after 3 killed

ONE of the alleged gunmen is in custody and another is being sought following a deadly mass shooting in Philadelphia that left three people dead.

In Philadelphia, three people have died and at least eleven more were injured after 'multiple gunmen' fired bullets into a downtown crowd.

One of the suspects charged in the attack is in police custody, according to Assistant District Attorney Joanne Pescatore.

Quran Garner, 18, has been named as the suspect in custody.

The other suspect has not yet been named and is being sought after by authorities.

On the same night, three others died in Chattanooga after 14 were shot outside a bar and three others were hit by cars as they tried to run away.

Two of the victims died from gunshot injuries, and one died from injuries after being hit by a car.

    The gunman, identified as David Chou, was later detained by authorities after members of the church hogtied him in an act the sheriff’s office called “exceptional heroism and bravery," per the .

  • Sheriff's statement on boy's arrest

    “This student’s behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” said Lee County Sheriff .

    “Making sure our children are safe is paramount. We will have law and order in our schools! My team didn’t hesitate one second…NOT ONE SECOND, to investigate this threat.

    “Right now is not the time to act like a delinquent. It’s not funny. This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”

    "'He described wads of cash and was getting ready to commit a mass shooting," Marceno  describing the texts.

    "We don't wait one second. We investigate every threat as if it's real."

    Sheriff Marceno defended arresting the minor publicly.

  • Florida boy, 10, arrested for threats

    The 10-year-old was charged with making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting.

    The threat came only five days after the Uvalde, Texas school shooting last month, which resulted in the deaths of 19 students and two teachers.

    Police believed that the student was threatening the school in text messages and publicly arrested him.

    The 5th-grade student, from Patriot Elementary School in Cape Coral, Florida,  reportedly sent a text to his friend claiming that he bought four assault rifles.

    The alleged messages claimed that the minor scammed a friend to get the assault rifles.

  • Brooklyn subway shooting

    On April 12, a shooting broke out in Brooklyn during the early morning commute.

    At the time, the chief spokesperson for the FDNY said at least 16 people were confirmed to be injured and taken to local hospitals.

    As of April 13, the number of injured had risen to at least 29.

    Most victims were treated for shrapnel, gunshot wounds, and smoke inhalation; but police say they have non-life-threatening injuries.

    The president issued a second tweet on the issue, emphasizing the damage by assault rifles.

    "Why should an ordinary citizen be able to purchase an assault weapon that holds 30-round magazines and fires hundreds of bullets in minutes?" he wrote.

    "The damage was so devastating in Uvalde parents had to do DNA swabs to identify remains of their 9- and 10-year old children."

  • Joe Biden calls for assault weapon regulations

    In a recent tweet, President Joe Biden argued for an assault weapons ban or raising the age to purchase the weapons.

    "In Texas, you can be 18-years-old and buy an assault weapon – even though you can’t buy a pistol until you’re 21," he wrote.

    "If we can’t ban assault weapons as we should, we must at least raise the age to buy assault weapons to 21."

    Mayor Cory Mason released a statement  along with a video denouncing the shooting.

    “It is a new low to see people being shot at as they’re trying to bury their loved ones in a cemetery. This cannot become normal, we have got to stop the violence,” he said.

    We have got to do something about the gun violence in our community. I have spoken to both the Attorney General and Governor today and requested additional resources.”

  • Shooting occurred during Da'Shontay King's funeral

    According to the outlet, mourners were gathered at Graceland for the funeral service of Da'Shontay King, 37, who was fatally shot by Racine police on May 20.

    Many children, including King's four children, were in attendance at the funeral, local outlet the  reported.

    A witness told the Journal they heard at least 20-30 shots, saying "it sounded like firecrackers."

    King's casket was reportedly lowered into the ground hours after the shooting.

    At least five funeral attendees were injured in a mass shooting at Graceland Cemetery in Racine, , on Thursday.

    The family in attendance at the funeral service told  that at least five people were injured in the .

    An employee at the cemetery said multiple family members were hit, the outlet reported.

  • Biden says everyday places are 'battlefields'

    President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden recently visited Uvalde, Texas, to pay their respects to the victims of the shooting at Robb Elementary.

    "Standing there in that small town like so many other communities across America, I couldn't help but think there are too many other schools, too many other everyday places, that have become killing fields - battlefields - here in America," Biden said.

    "For God's sake, how much more carnage are we willing to accept?"

  • Four killed in Tulsa last week

    Four people were shot and killed at a medical facility on the grounds of St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Wednesday.

    The shooter, according to Deputy Chief Eric Dalgleish, is also dead. He stated, "We believe that is self-inflicted," per .

    The gunman was identified as Michael Louis, and police say he left a letter that detailed his intent to kill victim Dr. Preston Phillips.
