A PRISON inmate became a wanted fugitive after managing to escape law enforcement.
In the wake of his jailbreak, the now-deceased Gonzalo Lopez went on a crime spree leaving at least five victims dead.
What happened to Gonzalo Lopez?
On May 12, 2022, a prison bus that was carrying inmates made its way to Huntsville, Texas.
The bus contained a total of 17 criminals in the process of seeking medical attention at the aforementioned location.
While on the trip, inmate Gonzalo Lopez initiated a physical altercation with the bus driver and hijacked the vehicle.
Following the violent attack and an eventual police pursuit, Gonzalo exited the bus and disappeared.

On Thursday, June 2, 2022, police located a family of five dead at their residence in Centerville, Texas.
The family has since been identified by as grandfather Mark Collins, a member of the Houston Northwest Church, and his four grandchildren: Waylon, 18, Carson, 16, Hudson, 11, and Bryson, 11.
Gonzalo - the fugitive who evaded fled captivity - appeared to be the murderer.
After finding the family, authorities stated the victims' vehicle was missing from the scene.
On Friday, June 3, police officials tracked Gonzalo down and the escapee engaged officers in a shootout.
During the shootout with the cops, the criminal was pronounced dead.
Officers searched the vehicle used by the perpetrator and believe it is the same car reported missing from the murder scene the day before.
Upon inspecting the car, they found an AR-15 and a handgun.
In 1996, he was found guilty of charges relating to aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and failure to stop and render aid.
A decade later, in 2006, he was sentenced to life in prison for capital murder.

On top of his first life prison sentence, he was slapped with another one in 2007 for an additional capital murder conviction.
Law enforcement noted that he was affiliated with the Mexican Mafia.
