SHOPPERS are furious that council chiefs have wasted money painting wiggly white lines in a new pedestrianised zone.
It was all part of a £178,000 scheme in Worthing, West Sussex.
The decorative lines alone cost £1,230.
Local Tamara Murray said: “Waste of money and silly design.
“By taking away the safe disabled parking there it will take away business from Worthing.”
Andrea Bristow added: “It looks like a kid has been let loose with a white line machine!

“What an absolute mess.”
£23,500 of the £178k cost was spent on “technical scheme design” and management fees.
Adur and Worthing Council defended the decision.
