THE race to become next Met Police Commissioner will be whittled down from four to two candidates tomorrow.

They include former counter terror policing boss Sir Mark Rowley who left the job in 2018.

Rival Jon Boutcher is the ex-Bedfordshire chief and is heading a probe into murders in Northern Ireland’s Troubles.

Also in the running are Met Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave and Devon and Cornwall’s chief Shaun Sawyer.

Former New Zealand chief Mike Bush has dropped out of the running.

Home Secretary Priti Patel will choose Dame Cressida Dick’s successor this summer.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan — who ousted former Met chief Dame Cressida Dick in February this year — will be consulted.

A source said: “All four candidates have had brilliant careers in policing.

“It will be a very hard decision.’’
