THIS is the shocking moment a major brawl broke out among a group of men in Dublin Airport yesterday - with one man stamped on the head as passengers watched in horror.
The fight had to be broken up by airport police in the departures area of Terminal 1 before paramedics rushed to the scene.
One man was rushed to Beaumont Hospital for treatment and another, aged in his 20s, was arrested by gardai, who have launched a full investigation.
Footage shot in the airport of the fight - which seemingly broke out between two men before others joined in - was shared widely on social media.
Terrified passengers looked on as rivals swung punches and aimed kicks at each other in Terminal One of the busy airport on Tuesday afternoon.
Dramatic footage shows two men fighting, with one repeatedly punching the other in the head as two others tried to separate the pair.
Despite efforts to separate the two, they returned to fighting and continuing sparring close to Gate 105.
The two fell to the floor and continued to brawl, punching each other in the head.
The two then got up off the floor where another man joined in and hit one of the fighters as blood spilled on the ground.
The man on the floor was also stamped in the head and kicked as others tried to drag the man away.
'NOT ACCEPTABLE'
Justice Minister Helen McEntee hit out at those involved in the brawl.
Minister McEntee, who voiced concern at the incident at the Garda Representatives Association conference in Co Mayo, said: "I've seen the footage - it's absolutely not acceptable.
"People queuing up to go on their holidays and other children around - they don't need to see this type of behaviour."
Garda Commissioner Drew Harris also confirmed an investigation was underway.
The senior officer said: "I understand that the initial incident had moved and gardai were responding to that from other parts of the airport.
"A response was on its way and it did then bring a sense of order.
"An investigation will now follow in terms of individuals involved in various offences of assault.
"I want to look at the incident myself and I want to get more detail in respect of it."
said they responded to a "public order incident" at the airport and investigations are ongoing.
A spokesperson said last night: "Gardai, with the assistance of the DAA Airport Police responded to a public order incident at Dublin Airport earlier this evening, 24th May 2022.
