Yet another disabled, unarmed black man is shot dead by cops in America – this time a 30-year-old killed in front of his horrified sister
Death comes as tensions between US police and African-Americans reaches boiling point
PROTESTERS and police have clashed after a black man was shot and killed by officers overnight.
Californian police say the man – believed to be Alfred Olango, 30 – had “rapidly drawn” an object on them.
It is yet to be confirmed whether he was armed.
One cop fired his gun while another used his taser against the victim, who was aged in his thirties and is believed to have been disabled.
They had been called after reports the man was walking erratically along a busy road.
A statement from El Cajon police department read: “Today, the El Cajon Police Department received calls of a man who was ‘not acting like himself’. He was walking in traffic, not only endangering himself, but motorists.”
Describing the shooting, it continued: “The subject paced back and forth while officers tried to talk to him.
“At one point, the subject rapidly drew an object from his front pants pocket, placed both hands together and extended them rapidly toward the officer taking up what appeared to be a shooting stance.
“At this time, the officer with the electronic control device discharged his weapon. Simultaneously, the officer with the firearm discharged his weapon several times, striking the subject.”
Outraged locals took to the streets of El Cajon last night to vent their anger at police.
The killing comes as tensions between African-Americans and police officers reach boiling point.
The shooting of 43-year-old Keith Lamont Scott and a subsequent video of the killing provoked riots in Charlotte, North Carolina.
While unarmed church pastor Terence Crutcher was shot dead by a female officer after being pulled over in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He had been walking away from cops with his hands in the air at the time.
