I blocked McDonald’s drive-thru for hours after refusing to park and wait for my McMuffins- I’m NEVER eating there again

A FATHER-of-two has "banned himself" from a McDonald's branch, after he blocked its drivethru in a furious TWO HOUR stand off yesterday over McMuffins.

On Sunday morning, fuming Stuart Yates refused to move his Ford from window three of the McDonald's drivethru at Leyland, Lancashire.

Today he is defiantly standing by his actions.

The disabled, single dad had been asked to wait for his takeaway breakfast order in the car park, but was adamantly he wouldn't budge.

He point blank refused to park up in case he faced another lengthy delay like the one he claimed to have experienced the week before.

As the hours ticked by, the fast food feud shifted to centre around Stuart demanding a refund, rather than his two double sausage and egg McMuffins.

Stuart, who made headlines around the world with his one-man protest, has now said he's been slapped with a letter from the branch.

A police officer delivered him the formal note, which Stuart assumed was banning him from the restaurant, even though he never read it.

He said: "The policeman had a big letter with a list of complaints about me.

"I didn't read it, I told the police man I wasn't taking it. I presume I have been banned from that McDonald's, but I didn't read the letter.

"I don't need banning, I've banned myself. I'll never go there again."

Stuart had visited his local Maccies in Leyland, Lancs., to pick up two double sausage and egg McMuffins for his 15-year-old son and his friend who had stayed over.

But he claims upon arrival at the drive-thru, a worker recognised him from a previous row and shouted "wait in the car park", which enraged him.

Stuart added: "I went there the week before and it had taken 20 minutes for what is supposed to be fast food.

"It had gotten to the point where I went in and asked where it was and complained.

"As I drove in, the lad spotted me from the week before and he said 'it's him again'. He shouted 'go and wait in the car park'.

"He thought it was a funny idea to wind me up, but he wound up the wrong person.

"I just said I want my money on the card. They threatened me with the police and I said get the police, I'm not bothered.

"I wasn't being patronised in that way. She said it will take two minutes, but if it was only going to take two minutes why couldn't they have given it to me at the window?"

Stuart asked for a refund instead of the wait in the car park for his food, but was given a refund in cash rather than his credit card as he'd requested - sparking the outrage which lead to the blockade.

He said: "The manager on duty threw the refund on my roof.

"I couldn't get out of my car to get it because I was parked up next to the window. What sort of customer service is that?"

Stuart's stubbornness forced the drive-thru to close, until a police officer diffused the situation by negotiating the refund onto Stuart's card as he had asked.

But the protest's global headlines bemused Stuart and bombarded him with messages.

He added: "I knew I was well within my rights to want the money back on my card.

"I can't believe there's been such a fuss about it. There's diseases, wars and terrible things happening and people are interested in this. It's silly really."

A McDonald's spokesman said: "We are aware of an incident that took place at our Leyland Drive Thru around 9.30am on Sunday morning.

"We would like to thank our team for handling the situation calmly and professionally. We will continue to support the police with any enquiries."

Lancashire Police have been approached for comment.
