‘Fake taxi driver’, 37, charged after ‘kidnapping woman and driving to park to sexually assault her’

A FAKE taxi driver kidnapped a woman and tried to attack her during early-hours horror in Norwich, it's alleged.

Cops announced today a man has been charged after the complainant was reportedly subjected to a terrifying ordeal.

The suspect, 37, is accused of kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence, as well as a second charge of administering a substance.

Police were called at 5.10am on Saturday following allegations that a driver who claimed he was a cabbie had picked up a man and a woman in the city centre.

The driver asked the man to withdraw cash for the fare in Plumstead Road.

As he walked to an ATM, the driver allegedly raced off with the female passenger still in the back seat.

A spokesperson from Norwich police said: "Officers acted swiftly and the car was traced to a car park on Pilling Park Road, where the woman was found to be safe at 6.15am.

"Grant McCluskey, 37, of Cedar Road, Norwich, was arrested following the incident.

"He has been charged with kidnap, kidnap with intent to commit a sexual offence and of administering a substance with intent to overpower.

"He is due to appear before Norwich Magistrate’s Court today."
