Middle Tennessee State University shooting leaves 1 dead and another critical after Riverdale High School graduation
ONE person has died while another has been critically injured following a shooting that took place after a high school graduation.
Gunfire erupted on the Middle State University campus in Murfreesboro, which was been used by Riverdale High, on Wednesday night.
Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office told that two people suffered gunshot wounds.
One person died, while the other has been left critically injured.
The victims were found by the tennis courts, located next to the Murphy Center.
The shooter or shooters remain at large and K-9 units combed the area for clues.

Witnesses said they heard between six and eight gunshots.
Law enforcement believes the incident may have stemmed from an argument between two men.
Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Dan Goodwin said: “Tonight's shooting at MTSU is a tragedy. We mourn with the family who lost a loved one and the victim injured.
“Police found two people suffering from gunshots near the tennis courts. The shooting occurred as individuals were leaving the graduation.”

MTSU tweeted that there’s no threat on the campus but the investigation remains active.
Riverdale High School will be closed on Thursday as a precaution.
Counseling will be provided to students when school goes back into session on Friday, Rutherford County Schools spokesperson James Evans said.
