Jeremy Corbyn’s pressure group Momentum stands by sick comics mocking crippled war heroes calling them ‘artwork’

JEREMY Corbyn’s hard left pressure group has branded sick comics mocking crippled British war heroes “artwork” that shows “the human costs of war”.

There was uproar yesterday when The Sun revealed the warped stall of anti-military paraphernalia outside a Momentum rally, close to Labour’s annual conference in Liverpool.

Senior Labour MPs demanded the material be withdrawn immediately.

But the group - set up to keep the veteran socialist Labour leader in power - refused to ban its sale at their events.

Momentum leader James Schneider told The Sun: “It isn't criticising or mocking troops and veterans, but drawing attention to the human costs of war on all sides”.

The Sun today reveals just how twisted one of the stall’s comics is, based on a fictitious Action Men series.

It features "PTSD Action Man", who comes accompanied with "a crutch, antidepressants, lager and a noose".

On another page, "Dead Action Man" comes "in his own body bag" along with "a spade, wreath and dog tags."

The cruel toys are accompanied with children smiling as they stage a mock funeral for a British soldier in a Union flag draped coffin, and "DAD" written in flowers.

As the backlash against the twisted material spiralled yesterday, Momentum was forced to issue a statement saying they “intended no offence or disrespect to members of the Armed Forces".

But a spokesman for the group insisted: "Darren Cullen, a satirical artist, illustrator and artist produced this artwork with Veterans for Peace UK in order to highlight the horrors of war, including the detrimental physical and mental impact it has on soldiers, especially teenagers.

“It was featured on Darren Cullen's stall at The World Transformed, which he had on Sunday.”

Prominent Labour MP and former Parachute Regiment officer Dan Jarvis has branded the comic books “extremely disrespectful to our armed forces and veterans”.

Mr Jarvis said: “It is utterly unacceptable that those who have been injured in the service of our country should be pilloried in this way”.

Former Army officer and Tory MP Johnny Mercer branded the stall’s owners “Britain hating anarchists who know the value of nothing”.
