Ibiza holiday warning for Brits as locals slam deadly resort after tourist is stabbed

BRITS eyeing up a holiday in Ibiza have been warned by locals that the party resort is "not a safe place" after a tourist was stabbed.

It comes as Spanish authorities desperately try to crackdown on drunken behaviour with tough restrictions such as drinking limits.

On Saturday, a British man was stabbed in an early-morning attack in San Antonio, one of Ibiza's most lively party towns.

Local residents suggest the 32-year-old victim may have been the target of a gang of thieves who have been spotted in the holiday resort.

Police confirmed the Brit was stabbed during a brawl in the area of Doctor Fleming Avenue at around 6am.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital with a wound to his thigh, according to local press.

The Civil Guard has opened an investigation and is trying to find the alleged attacker.

In another incident, a German tourist was rushed to hospital after being stabbed in the face.

The holidaymaker, 26, was injured after confronting thieves and needed 30 stitches, reports news outlet El Diario de Ibiza.

Meanwhile, a local man said he was robbed after going out for a meal with family and friends.

He reported he was set upon by a group of men who blocked his path when walking home at 4am before stealing his mobile, sunglasses and wallet.

He tweeted: "They ran away but came back five minutes later and returned my wallet when they realised I wasn't a tourist.

"However, the 35 euros inside had been stolen and I didn't get the phone back."

Locals have slammed the resort as they claim Ibiza "is not a safe place to be after the sun goes down" and that anyone who walks alone is likely to be robbed.

One angry resident told Periodico de Ibiza: "Wonderful! The season has already started! It is a great pity but San Antonio is the garbage dump of Ibiza  (and the Balearic Islands)."

It comes as holidaymakers wanting a boozy Spanish holiday will have their plans ruined as the popular resorts have capped the number of drinks they can be served.

Brits in Ibiza and Majorca will only be allowed to have six drinks per day when staying at all-inclusive resorts.

The regulations will affect tourists in the popular holiday hotspots of MagalufMajorca and some areas of party island Ibiza.
