BORIS JOHNSON told David Cameron Brexit would be “crushed” in a text moments before he told the nation he would be backing Vote Leave, it was claimed last night.

Mr Cameron’s spin chief Sir Craig Oliver yesterday alleged BoJo was flip flopping over which side to back in the Referendum right up until he declared for Brexit.

In one message moments before telling the nation, Boris texted Mr Cameron and – adapting a Rudyard Kipling phrase – said: “Brexit will be crushed like the toad beneath the harrow.”

Sir Craig said David Cameron believed Boris was a “confused Inner”.

A spokesman for Boris Johnson refused to comment last night.
