Both had blamed each other for killing dad-of-two Graham Pattison, 49, who was hit by their car in July 2020 as he cycled from Sedgefield to Wynyard, Co Durham.

They were both found guilty of causing death by dangerous driving within three hours at Teesside crown court.

Judge Jonathan Carroll told them: "A custodial sentence is inevitable. the only question is how long that will be.

"Be under no illusions, whatsoever, make arrangements between now and June 1 that are necessary before you go to prison."

Graham's family said after the verdict: “Graham was a kind, funny, amazing person and our world was a brighter place simply because he was in it.

"He was a loving husband, dad, son and brother, taken from us all far too soon as a direct result of dangerous driving.

“We feel no sense of victory from the verdict on Thursday - we are the losers.

“We take some comfort from knowing that justice has been done and we hope this verdict sends a message to any driver who acts without regard for other road users."

Graham was sent 40 metres into the air when Robinson's Ford Fiesta collided with his back wheel. He died of his injuries a short while later, reports.

Ferry and Robinson were arguing for a six-mile stretch leading up to the crash.

He claimed Robinson cut in front of him twice, while she claimed he started gesticulating and swearing while pointing at her to pull over.

Former army engineer added she was "aggressively harassing" him and said her boyfriend shouted at him through the open window before sticking up two fingers.

Robinson claimed Ferry was furious. She added she feared driving into the back of him when he repeatedly slammed his brakes and sped off.

Witness Trevor Smith, who was driving behind with his wife, told the court: "The white car was quite close to the black car - they were side by side.

"They seemed to be matching each other. The white car swerved to the left and it was a 'speed wobble' as if she was trying to get the car under control. The brake lights went on at that point.

"There was a cyclist in front of the white car.

"I can remember saying to my wife - 'he's going to get hit'.

"I was referring to the cyclist. I was braking very hard; I was worried the cyclist might land in front of my car."
