Up to 91 dead in rebel-held Aleppo after second day of brutal Syrian and Russian airstrikes
The Sun is calling for donations for our Aid for Aleppo campaign with Save the Children to help Syrian kids
THE SYRIAN city of Aleppo was blasted by airstrikes for a second day yesterday as the county’s military continues its new offensive to retake rebel-held areas.
Activists claim that both Syrian and Russian warplanes have been attacking the city.
The action came just hours after a major new offensive was announced - quashing any hopes of restoring a US-Russian ceasefire in the country.
The death toll is thought to stand at 91 across the troubled city, but activists fear there may be many more bodies trapped under the rubble.
One rescue worker described what happened as “annihilation” and the government has urged people to avoid positions held by rebels.
The Sun continues to ask its generous readers to donate to our Aid For Aleppo campaign, in association with charity Save The Children.
The money will go towards providing vulnerable Syrian children with food, supporting hospitals and setting up specialist emotional support.
