Tiny Mad Max style buggies used by Ukrainians to destroy monster Russian tanks and even taken down planes

HERO Ukrainians are using tiny Mad Max style buggies to obliterate monster Russian tanks - and even take down planes.

Mounted with Stugna-P anti-tank guided missile systems on their roofs, the nippy two-seater vehicles are wreaking havoc for Vladimir Putin's forces as they are wielded by Ukrainian defenders.

Russian troops have suffered severe losses since the war began in February with Ukraine claiming it has killed more than 23,000 of Moscow's soldiers.

The wrecks of Putin’s war machines also litter the land he ordered his forces to invade as Ukraine also claims it has destroyed more than 1,000 tanks, 2,400 armoured vehicles and 345 aircraft.

The brave defenders have been using inexpensive battle buggies amid their display of defiance that has stunned the world.

In a David versus Goliath style battle, Ukrainian hit and run raid teams have been fielding the Ranger UTVs against some of Russia's most terrifying and lethal armoured vehicles.

Armed with a Stugna-P anti-tank guided missile systems (ATGMs) on their roofs, the all-terrain vehicles have proved no match for Russia's arsenal as they can strike ground vehicles as well as low-flying aircraft.

Developed by the Kyiv design bureau Luch, they typically fire 130-millimetre calibre missiles and can be operated by remote control from a distance of up to 50 metres.

Ukraine has assembled a formidable anti-tank force with large numbers of missiles from the UK, US, Germany and others adding to its own arsenal.

Luch's description of the missile says they are "designed to destroy manpower and stationary and mobile modern armoured targets with combined, carried or monolithic armour including ERA (explosive reactive armour) and also pinpoint targets like weapon emplacements, lightly armoured objects and hovered helicopters at any time of day or night".

Pictures shared on social media show the two-seater buggies in all their glory, painted in camouflage colours.

The formidable missile was caught on camera destroying a Russian tank.

Drone footage showed the Russian tank exploding into a fireball the moment it was ambushed on a road.

Flames poured into a line of trees on one side as burning pieces of debris were hurled in the direction of a nearby factory on the other and soon the tank was engulfed in thick smoke.

Putin expect a quick victory when he ordered the invasion of Ukraine but fierce resistance has seen a mounting death toll, with several generals and senior officers among the dead.

Ukrainian fighters have put up strong resistance after weeks of fighting which has led to humiliating losses for Moscow.

Putin's failed invasion has so far seen dozens of Russian commanders killed as well as the sinking of flagship Moskva in the Black Sea after being hit by Ukrainian Neptune missiles.

Russian troops have been forced out of Kyiv and have now focused on Ukraine's eastern Donbas region where fighting continues.
