Raging Labour MP let rip at Tory rival in a bar for demanding cops investigate Sir Keir Starmer’s lockdown beer
A RAGING Labour MP let rip at a Tory rival in a bar for demanding the police should investigate Sir Keir Starmer’s lockdown beer-drinking.
Mary Foy is said to have grabbed Tory Richard Holden by the arm and berated him for trying to get the police involved.
Witnesses say she had to be led away by her staff after the incident in a Commons bar on Tuesday night and had to email a grovelling apology yesterday.
Tory sources said it was a clear sign Labour was feeling the heat over the row — with Sir Keir himself showing signs of annoyance in recent days over being asked about it.
The Labour leader was pictured sipping a bottle of beer in Ms Foy’s City of Durham constituency office in April 2021.
Labour insisted it was a short break during work. But at the time indoor mixing between households was banned.
Mr Holden, MP for North West Durham, wants police to look into whether or not Sir Keir had broken lockdown rules.
Durham Constabulary said it did not consider it a breach and its policy of not taking retrospective action against Covid lawbreakers meant Sir Keir would dodge a fine regardless.
