Prison bosses to be banned from using woke language around convicted criminals
PRISON bosses are to be banned from using woke language such as referring to inmates as residents.
Ministers fear the spread of politically correct fads inside jails risks wrecking public confidence in law and order policies.
Justice Secretary and Deputy PM Dominic Raab has issued a new style guide to all prison governors in England and Wales to crack down on leftie lingo.
They have been told to call inmates prisoners, with words like residents, clients and service users banned.
And cells must be referred to as such, and not as rooms.
A government source said: “Wishy-washy, politically-correct phrases like ‘room’ or ‘client’ dent public confidence in our ability both to reform and to punish those who have broken the law and caused harm to others.

“The Justice Secretary believes in calling a prisoner a prisoner.”
Last month, The Sun revealed that woke prison bosses were using cuddly lingo to refer to inmates.
John McLaughlin, head of HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough, Northants — dubbed England’s softest jail — said he calls lags residents to build their self-esteem.
And he is happy for them to call him John rather than Sir, Guv or Boss.
