Southwark stabbing: Tributes to gran, 64, knifed to death with 2 women and man as family say ‘she didn’t deserve this’

TRIBUTES have been paid to a gran found stabbed to death at home with three others after horrified neighbours heard screaming.

Dolet Hill, aged in her 60s, was discovered in Southwark, South London, after armed police forced their way in following reports of a "disturbance".

The gran, who works at nearby Guy's Hospital, was declared dead at the scene along with a man aged in his 60s and two other women in their 30s and 40s.

The man in his 60s is believed to be Ms Hill's partner.

Police have arrested a man aged in his 20s on suspicion of murder who remains in custody.

The Met say all five people are believed to be known to each other and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the horror.

Tributes have now flooded in for Dolet, who was described as "wonderful" by her devastated niece.

Venecia Reid added: "She was very loving, very kind, very generous.

"She worked very hard in this country to support her two girls and her two grandkids.

"She does not deserve this."

Horrified neighbours said the victims were a family of four with two adult daughters.

They also reported hearing haunting screams coming from a woman in the early hours of the morning as the "bloodbath" unfolded.

One said: "I was watching telly when about half 1 in the morning, I heard a woman screaming for about five minutes.

"It was awful. I thought it was someone was holding someone hostage or something.

"But when I heard the police, the helicopter, the ambulances, I knew it was really serious.

"I saw about eight or nine police cars - all were armed - come out and surround the area."

A pensioner said: “There were loads of police and paramedics working on the victims outside. It looked like a bloodbath - a scene of carnage.

“They were my neighbours, I think. A lovely couple. I can’t believe anyone would want to hurt them.”

Residents also said armed police forced their way into the home in the early hours as a fleet of police cars swooped.

One added: "I saw a load of police jump out of their cars with guns. There were about eight police cars, several ambulances, and some of them were going door to door.

"They came to the back garden to make sure our door was secure.

"It was about 2am. We didn't hear anything else - we were just told to stay inside.

"My husband said he swore he heard screaming, shouts, some commotion but I didn't hear anything."

MURDER PROBE

Forensic officers have been seen combing for clues today behind a metal fence.

There are four forensic tents on the residential street, which is close to Millwall FC’s stadium The Den.

Chief Superintendant Colin Wingrove, head of policing in Southwark, said: "In the early hours of this morning after answering a call from neighbours police forced entry into a house here in Delaford Road.

"Inside, they made a dreadful discovery of four people who have been stabbed.

"Despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics, the four people were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"I can confirm the three women, aged in their mid-60s, 40s and 30s, and one man believed to be in his mid-60s have died."

He added: "I want to offer my heartfelt condolences of all the family and friends of those concerned."
