The most deadly states were shown to be California, Texas and Florida but these do make up three of the four most populous states in the US.

The news comes following the shooting of an unarmed black pastor by a white female officer in Oklahoma last Friday.

Terence Crutcher was shot while walking away from police with his hands up, towards his stalled vehicle.

The 40-year-old is seen to approach the driver’s side door before dropping to the floor after being shocked with a stun gun, then fatally shot.

In Tulsa police helicopter footage that was among several clips released yesterday showed a man in the helicopter that arrives above the scene as Crutcher walks to the vehicle saying “time for a Taser.”

He then says: “That looks like a bad dude, too. Probably on something.”

Police Chief Chuck Jordan announced before the video and audio recordings’ release that Crutcher had no weapon on him or in his SUV when he was shot Friday.

It’s not clear from the footage what led Betty Shelby, the officer who fired the fatal shot, to draw her gun or what orders officers might have given Crutcher.

Local and federal investigations are underway to determine whether criminal charges are warranted in the shooting or if Crutcher’s civil rights were violated.

His twin sister, Tiffany, has called for charges to be brought as the footage emerged.

She said: “The big bad dude was my twin brother. That big bad dude was a father."

And riots rage in Charlotte, North Carolina following the death of Keith Lamont Scott a black man shot by a black police officer on Tuesday.

One person was shot during a second night of protests over a deadly police shooting of a black man in North Carolina.

The person, who was not identified, is in critical condition and on life support, city of Charlotte officials tweeted in the early hours of this morning.

One police officer was also injured and was transported to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The riot and protests came on a day in which the city's police chief gave more details on the shooting that took the life of Keith Lamont Scott.

Chief Kerr Putney addressed the Scott family's claim that he was reading a book in his vehicle when police officers approached and shot him.

Putney said Scott was armed and no book was found at the scene.

The US has been blighted by unrest in relation to killings by police officers this year.

Police were killed in Dallas and Baton Rouge following the death of Alton Sterling earlier this year.
