THIS is the moment a mechanic cheated death after being accidentally flattened by a tractor.

Onlookers rushed to the side of Cleide Pasti, 60, fearing the worst after one of its huge wheels ran right over him over after he started up the machine.

But the footage showed him getting to his feet after the initial shock - and he was later diagnosed with just a broken bone in his foot when he went to hospital.

The incident occurred at a car repair garage in Boa Esperanca in the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, where Cleide had been working for 30 years.

Business owner Bianca Schimitdt said: "He went to start the vehicle up to see if it was working.

"He moved the throttle lever because he thought everything was okay but the tractor started advancing and dragging him with it.

"We don’t know what happened and whether it was a problem with the vehicle.

"He got up afterwards and was talking and walking till the ambulance came to take him to hospital."

Cleide’s son Heitor, 26, added: "I arrived at the garage and saw he seemed okay and was calm. It was a miracle he survived."
