I found BACON in my McDonald’s vegan McPlant burger – it nearly ruined my meat-free diet
A VEGAN was horrified to find bacon in his McDonald’s McPlant burger.
The customer, 37, found the meat piece when biting into his second burger, which is meant to have no animal products.
The new fast-food dish is made with a plant-based patty and the Vegetarian Society certified it as an approved vegan product.
But the vegan-of-two-years told : “I feel so let down. It’s good that McDonald’s and other establishments finally offer a vegan burger.
“Vegan eateries are few and far between. I just hope it doesn’t happen again.”
He ordered two McPlants and sat in the restaurant in Birmingham. The piece of bacon dropped out halfway through eating the second, but he originally thought it was a piece of tomato.

But he showed it to the counter when he realised it was bacon and was told: “We’re sorry about that.”
He added: “My concern is that the McPlant is certified vegan by the Vegetarian Society.
"So it shouldn’t have happened if the society’s vegan rules were followed. The food areas are supposed to be completely separate.”
Customer services offered him a £5 off voucher for any £5 spend.

A McDonald’s spokeswoman said: “We absolutely recognise that it is not acceptable to serve meat when a vegan product has been ordered.
“We take order accuracy very seriously and have a number of procedures in place to avoid inaccurate orders and we are disappointed that we fell short of these on this occasion.
“When the matter was brought to the attention of our restaurant team, we immediately apologised for this mistake.
“Our customer services team has also been in contact with the customer to offer our apologies and help find a resolution.”
