STAG D'OH

I had to party alone on my stag do after my mates’ budget flight was cancelled

A REVELLER ended up partying alone on a stag do — 750 miles away from his mates after their budget flight was cancelled at the last minute.

Greg Bishop, 38, arrived in Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana the day before the rest of the 20-strong group of pals.

But their easyJet flight from Gatwick to the East European city was then axed amid ongoing airport chaos.

As groom James Flynn, 35, and the rest of the stag party made the most of being stuck in Blighty with pub crawls in Brighton, Sheffield and Chesterfield, Greg faced two nights alone in Ljubljana. He said: “I was determined to have a good time.

“It would have been better with my mates but I had to party in honour of James the best I could.

“I’ve always been organised and fixed the trip off my own back ages before the rest, but I ended up paying the price.

“The WhatsApp messages were hard to take from the rest of them having a great time. I wish I could have got back home to go on the lash with the rest of them.

“I was getting myself fired up for a heavy weekend of drinking and debauchery and it actually ended up being pretty wholesome.”

Greg, a session musician from Muswell Hill, North London, forked out £500 for his weekend trip. Instead of all-day drinking, he visited a jazz bar and went to the shops.

He tried a delicacy of bread dumplings but preferred pizza and burgers. On his second night, Greg joined a group who took pity on him in an Irish bar.

He said: “It just wasn’t the same without the others there. I was gutted when I saw they couldn’t make it.

“I know the only rule on the stag do was no activities and we had to start drinking from 9am — I must admit I didn’t start that early but I did have a good time.

“When I told others what had happened, they couldn’t believe it.

“It was a beautiful city, and the architecture is amazing. If I’m honest, I think it’s a little bit posh for a stag do anyway. We would have only stunk up the place.”

Architect James, of Kentish Town, North London, added: “We missed Greg but I think we soon forgot about him.

“I did try to get him back but ultimately we just left him to his own devices.

“We lost a few of our lads when we were out and about and some of them lost their phones, but Bish was the worst by far. You just have to make the most of situations like that.”
