The teens, believed to be between 13 and 17 years old and wearing school uniform, fled the scene before officers arrived, Greater Manchester Police said.

No injuries have been reported following the dangerous incident.

It comes after more than 100 youngsters were involved in a street brawl in Bexley, South London yesterday - many of whom were schoolkids.

Riot police were called to the scene to break up the disturbance.

Inspector Phil Spurgeon of GMP's City of Manchester team, said: "We received a number of calls about the incident yesterday evening, which has clearly caused residents of the area and passers-by a great deal of concern and distress.

"We are in the very early stages of the investigation but we believe there could be anything between 30 and 100 young people involved.
