Boy, 4, hit and killed by car when he ran across the road as he was ‘excited to eat KFC at home with his family’
A BOY of four was hit and killed by a car when he ran across the road because he was “excited to get home and eat KFC”, an inquest heard.
Agarwin Sasikaran darted off and was struck when mum Aklaya let go of his hand to press the stop button at a pelican crossing.
They were in the central reservation with his brother, six, as they headed home to eat their popcorn chicken in Hayes, West London, in October 2020.
Aklaya broke her finger trying to grab him back when he ran out as driver Stacy Woolmore struck him.
Ms Woolmore was within the 40mph speed limit and immediately swerved left in an attempt to avoid the crash.
Metropolitan Police DC Dariusz Alexander said: “It is my hypothesis Agarwin was eager to get home after visiting KFC with his mother and brother.”

Argawin suffered catastrophic injuries to his head and torso and never recovered consciousness.
Police officers found that Ms Woolmore made no driving errors and the incident was unavoidable.
Assistant Coroner Ivor Collett told West London’s Coroner’s Court: “This terrible accident happened because children can sometimes behave unpredictably.
“Mrs Sasikaran will never be able to forget that terrible evening but I want her to know that it is absolutely clear that there is nothing she could have done to avoid what happened.
“Children do behave in these impulsive ways.”
Ms Woolmore said she was driving at around 38 to 40 mph with her partner next to her when she reached the area of the pedestrian crossing and the lights were green.
Mr Collett, summarising her statement, said: “As she reached the crossing, the boy ran out in front of the car.
“She immediately swerved to the left to avoid a collision with the boy. She said he must have been one metre ahead of the mother.
“The mother tried to grab him but it was too late and the car struck the boy. Ms Woolmore then contacted emergency services.”

The Coroner described the driver as “extremely remorseful” and said the death affected her immensely and needed specialist support.
DC Alexander added: “The family have been gravely affected and moved from London to elsewhere wanting a fresh start from this tragic incident.”
