MNSBC’s Rachel Maddow reveals real reason her show is now on once a week as fans slam host for ‘quietly quitting’
PRESENTER Rachel Maddow will only host her show once a week from May following her two-month hiatus.
The popular political commentator had been absent from her show since February as she went on sabbatical to work with NBCUniversal on new projects.
She returned to host MSNBC’s The Rachel Maddow Show on Monday and revealed she'll go to a weekly schedule starting next month.
She will only host the show on Monday nights from May 2.
However, fans have slammed Maddow on social media as "quietly quitting" from the role.
Meanwhile, rotating guest presenters will stand in for the presenter from Tuesday-Friday.

An MSNBC spokesperson told the that the show will be called MSNBC Prime when Maddow is absent.
Maddow told viewers: “This might change… We will see how things go, but that is the plan as of now.”
She said the situation remains “fluid”.
Maddow said it's possible she may appear more regularly on the show in the run-up to the November midterm elections or when big stories break.
The journalist, who joined MSNBC in 2008, will continue hosting the current affairs program from Monday-Thursday throughout the rest of April.
Maddow had been absent from her show since February but doesn't think she will go on another hiatus.

She said: “One of the things I realized to my surprise is that I actually don’t need another hiatus.”
Maddow says she’s been working on a movie adaptation of her podcast "Bag Man," reported.
It will be directed by Ben Stiller and Maddow will be an executive producer.
Sources close to the presenter have previously stated that she wanted to have time and space for her personal life and other projects.
Back in February, she said: "Like late-night hosts sometimes go on hiatus on their shows, I’m going to go on hiatus here for a little bit from this show, so I can work on some of those other projects."
“Change is good. Change is absolutely terrifying, but in this case, it’s good. Now let’s never speak of this again.”
However, fans have slammed Maddow on social media as "quietly quitting" from the role.
In October, MSNBC president Rashida Jones said the network was in "no immediate rush" to find Maddow's successor.
Last August, reported that Maddow would be staying at MSNBC after reaching an agreement on a new contract.
NBCUniversal will reportedly give Maddow $30million a year to keep her with the company through to the 2024 election, according to the .
She is reportedly worth $25million according to Celebrity Net Worth.
Maddow is one of the highest-paid news anchors on television, earning $7million annually as a news anchor at MSNBC, according to .
